Two minutes with Morna Harthan

The next instalment of our 'two minutes with' feature involves Morna Harthan, who's many years spent working in the housing sector have come in incredibly useful at Atticus.

We find out some more about her role at Atticus, how she came to work with Paul and more importantly, what she likes to do in her spare time away from the day job...

Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you came to work for Atticus?

I loved working for Housing Associations and spent over 20 years in the sector but needed a lifestyle change after the arrival of two small children and took a career break.  I couldn't quite envisage how to juggle my new family life and the commitment I like to give to my work, and I was struggling to picture what the future would look like.

Paul understood this and the opportunity to work flexibly around my circumstances alongside the team at Atticus, doing the work I love, seemed too good an opportunity to pass up as a temporary option - nearly three years ago!

What are Atticus' strengths and how can you help clients with their development needs?

Atticus are really good at working alongside clients to understand their priorities and draw on a huge pool of knowledge and experience. We look at the best options and best outcomes for clients.  Whether it's working with Housebuilders or Housing Associations, the team at Atticus understand and find ways to add value. That may be financial, strategic or social/relational value

What do you like to do in your spare time, away from work?

As a family we love being active outdoors, and that's been so important over the last couple of years whether it's time on the allotment or getting on a bike or going for a run. I'm also loving being able to spend more time socialising and networking and I am always up for a coffee and a chat.

What are the best bits about working in housing development?

In development there is always something different, so you learn from everything you do and then apply it to the next project or task and pass that on to someone else.

And after all these years I still also get complete satisfaction and reward for each home completed, each contract signed, and each piece of land secured.
